Yijiahe's Dragon Boat Festival Public Welfare Tour: Visiting Impoverished Families in Tibetan Areas

"The best wish we have is to see children grow up well." The healthy growth and all-round development of children and adolescents have always been the most tender concern of General Secretary Xi Jinping. From May 31 to June 5, the Gansu Duoshi Love Foundation, in collaboration with Yijiahe Technology Co., Ltd., launched a series of public welfare activities themed "Love Gathers, Guard the Blooming" for caring for girls in Tibetan Areas. Setting out with love, the initiative calls on everyone to pay attention to vulnerable children around them, enabling these children to have a carefree and joyful childhood.

Before Children’s Day, Leng Man told Teacher Li from the Gansu Duoshi Love Foundation that she wanted a Barbie doll. Upon learning this, Yijiahe immediately purchased Barbie dolls in Nanjing and mailed them to Teacher Li, who then gave one doll to each girl.

Ge Mancao is an 8-year-old Tibetan girl. She is a student in Class 1, Grade 1 of Duo'er School in Diebu County and lives in Zairi'ao Village, Duo'er Township. When the volunteers first met her during a home visit, they saw her busy helping her mother with housework as soon as they entered the house. Compared with other 8-year-olds of the same age, she showed far more thoughtfulness and consideration. During a chat with the volunteers, she said that when she grows up, she wants to be a teacher, so that children in the mountains can get out of the mountains and see the world outside. The village Party secretary told the volunteers that Ge Mancao’s father is in prison, and her mother is the only one at home taking care of three children. Ge Mancao is an extremely sensible child—she helps her mother with housework every day after returning home. This couldn’t help but make the volunteers feel an extra sense of compassion for this 8-year-old girl.

During the home visit to Ge Cao’s family, the volunteers’ attention was drawn to a wall covered with certificates of merit, including honors such as "Merit Student", "Academic Pacesetter" and "Willing to Help Others". When chatting with the volunteers, Ge Cao said, "After my father passed away, the heavy burden of the family fell entirely on my mother. I must study hard and change my fate with knowledge."
Daoji Cao is a student in Grade 7 at Wangzang School. She is a quiet and gentle girl who never speaks proactively during conversations. However, when the topic turned to her dream, her eyes lit up, and she said firmly, "When I grow up, I want to be a painter and paint all the mountains and rivers of my hometown." She added, "Although my father has a disability, his perseverance is like a mountain—he has taught me to be kind and brave, and to hold firm to my ideals and beliefs."
"My name is Meiduo Zhuoma. I like singing and dancing. When I grow up, I want to take my grandparents to Tian’anmen Square to watch the flag-raising ceremony." Meiduo Zhuoma is a girl who loves to smile. On Children’s Day, she danced with her grandmother while wearing a new dress bought by a caring person. After her mother passed away, her grandparents have showered her with all their love to accompany her growth—and this has made her a girl who always wears a smile.
A teacher said that Garang Zhuoma is a hardworking and resilient girl. Zhuoma shared that after her mother passed away, she only wants to repay her father with excellent grades.
Before the home visit to Leng Mucuo’s family, Secretary Jiacairen from Duo'er Township told the volunteers that Leng Mucuo’s father had passed away from illness a few days earlier. This immediately cast a shadow over the volunteers’ mood. When they arrived, the little girl was doing her homework. She greeted the volunteers politely, but the volunteers could also see a trace of melancholy in her clear eyes.

Difficult living conditions have not crushed these children living in the plateau farming and pastoral areas. It is hoped that love will make the children in Tibetan Areas feel full warmth, encourage them to hold firm to their ideals and beliefs, study hard, and move towards farther and higher horizons. Let love illuminate the innocent hearts of countless children.
